Lelibeth Aguiar

My name is Lelibeth Aguiar, I'm originally from Venezuela, and I’ve been living in Louisville since 2020.

My first year here was in lockdown so I didn’t have the chance to meet a lot of people, especially from the dance community. I don’t remember exactly how I knew about tumbao but I do remember that after my first time over there I felt so good that I just kept going every week. I felt welcoming, safe, accepted, and I had so much fun that I even celebrated my birthday with them.

I’ve been dancing since I have a memory. I guess that I was born in a dance-party-happy kind of family lol. So finding that environment so far from home it just feels like the right place to be.

Even when I knew how to dance I didn't know much about techniques and by watching Joshua, Antonio and Megan I got inspired to learn more and improve myself. I LOVE to dance salsa is my go to always but thanks to Tumbao bachata is now finding a special place in my heart.

I also have my own project, Olistica (@o.listica), I do guided meditations and more. So the first time I collaborated with Tumbao was doing a moon meditation. After this Tony invited me to be part of the team, since then, I’ve been helping them to be more organized, planning events and as the second/back up instructor. And we still do collabs between Olistica and Tumbao.

I feel blessed and grateful that I can be apart of this community that I can call my family now.
